The Discovery Series I was introduced into the United Kingdom in October 1989.
I was working in a London advertising agency at the time. One of my mates got one as a company car. That Christmas he lent it to me as I was going off to stay in a log cabin in Cornwall ( and he flew off to Dubai). It was the perfect vehicle, loaded up with boxes of food and beer for my 13 day forest retreat.
My company car at the time was a BMW 325i convertible. I lent this to a mate- Andy McCAdie - who ended up denting every panel and ripping off the front spoiler in a spin on ice up in Sheffield.
